Dating to circa 1900, this antique Chinese suitcase trunk combines tightly woven rattan with a wooden framework and dark patinated iron hardware. Rounded bindings reinforce its streamlined rectangular form, while a central lock plate, carrying handle and two clasps articulate the front.
The hinged lid opens to a warm-toned wooden interior with traces of painted decoration and age-related markings. Once intended for travel and storage, it now offers characterful storage for textiles or documents and makes a distinctive decorative object.
