The collection can include table and floor lamps, lanterns, sconces, chandeliers and decorative fixtures, including objects later converted into lamps. A historic form and its present electrical components may be from different periods, so descriptions should distinguish the decorative body from wiring, sockets, shades and mounting hardware.

For pieces in the Lighting collection, confirm dimensions, socket or candle size, wiring condition, bulb limits and mounting requirements. Vintage electrical fixtures should be evaluated and installed by a qualified electrician for the destination country. For candle holders, use stable placement, correctly sized candles and normal fire-safety precautions.

For pieces in the Lighting collection, disconnect electrical lighting before cleaning and dust with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive metal polish, moisture near sockets and aggressive cleaning that removes patina. Wax on candle holders should be softened and removed gently rather than scraped with a sharp tool, especially on plated, painted or fragile surfaces.
