This vintage Thai terracotta planter stands out for its strong carved relief and deep emerald-green painted finish. The bowl-shaped form is carved with vertical, rounded ribs that create a rhythmic surface, each one slightly irregular in height and width—typical of hand-worked pieces. Above this field runs a second carved band of small, arched recesses that add another layer of texture and give the planter a subtly architectural character.
The surface is finished in layered emerald and teal tones, with natural wear exposing warm terracotta highlights along the edges of the carving. The result is a matte, patinated look, giving the planter an aged, time-softened appearance without artificial gloss. The interior retains its original darkened surface, consistent with use.
At just over fifteen inches wide, it is substantial enough to sit on the floor or a low pedestal, yet also works well on consoles or chests as a decorative bowl. The carved detailing and painterly surface allow it to function equally well as a vessel for plants or as a standalone sculptural object in rustic, global, or collected interiors.
