This vintage Chinese pine blanket chest combines warm honey-toned grain with understated brass hardware. The clean rectangular form and lift-top storage also allow it to serve as a rustic coffee table.
Crafted from solid pine with visible grain movement and natural tonal variation throughout, the chest has a warm organic presence well suited to a variety of interiors, from wabi-sabi and farmhouse spaces to more minimal or contemporary environments. The lift-top lid opens to a spacious interior ideal for storing blankets, textiles, books, or everyday items while maintaining a clean visual profile.
The simplicity of the form allows the craftsmanship and material to take center stage. Subtle irregularities, knots, and variations in the wood contribute to its relaxed, utilitarian appeal and speak to its handmade nature.
Likely dating to the mid-to-late 20th century, this piece functions equally well at the foot of a bed, in a living room as a cocktail table, or in an entryway as practical storage with sculptural warmth.
