A Thai kneeling ceremonial monk sculpture from the 20th century with hand painted gilt and lacquer over stone. Found in a Thai temple, this ceremonial kneeling monk is a rare object. Boasting a superb contrast of colors between his dark skin and the golden and brown tones of his clothes, the monk is kneeling down, his legs elegantly placed to his left. His robe, covering one of his shoulders only, is falling beautifully in the back, creating cascading folds.
His hands are joined in the front in a prayerful attitude and his serene traits reveal an inspiring inner peace. This Thai 20th century ceremonial statue, sold 'as is', shows various damages in its lower section. We have a second statue, YN6866 in great condition, that will make for an excellent pair should you need one.
