A lost wax cast bronze sculpture, inspired by Auguste Rodin's The Thinker, in dark patina on black marble base. This item is available now and this is also a current production. Created with the traditional technique of the lost-wax (à la cire perdue) which allows for great precision and finesse in the details, this bronze statue is inspired by one of Auguste Rodin's world famous sculptures entitled The Thinker. His original was conceived in 1880 and devised to adorn the top of The Gates of Hell.
The Thinker was originally supposed to depict Dante, leaning forward to observe the circles of Hell, pondering on his work 'The Divine Comedy'. However Rodin exhibited the sculpture independently of The Gates in 1889 and called it The Thinker. Our piece boasts a dark patina and is resting on a black veined marble base of circular shape. With its incredible inspiration and lost wax rendition, this contemporary bronze cast of The Thinker will make for a wonderful decorative addition to any home.
