A Laotian style bronze rain drum side table from the Mid-20th Century, with geometric relief motifs, central sun and frog finials. Created during the midcentury period, this bronze drum table (named for the lovely sound that such tables make when hit by raindrops) displays a great precision in its patterns, made of scrolling friezes, diamonds and other geometrical motifs. The table top is adorned with concentric friezes surrounding a central sun, reminiscent of the Vietnamese Dong Son drums created in the bronze age, while the sides are accented with petite frog themed finials.
The table measures 20 inches high to the top of the frogs. The ensemble is raised on a tapering base adorned with a similar décor, contrasted however by the presence of delicate leaves on two of the sides. The table boasts a verdigris patina complimenting the lines beautifully. With its abundant décor and simple lines, this Laotian style rain drum side table will make for an excellent decorative accent in most homes.
