Description

A Japanese Taisho period hinoki cypress wood cabinet from the early 20th century converted into an open bookshelf with wavy curving shelf, sliding doors and drawers. Created in Japan during the Taisho period which spanned from 1912 to 1926, this bookshelf is made of hinoki cypress wood and is accented with hand-painted fabric with calligraphy and foliage motifs. The façade showcases an open shelf at the top, followed by a wave shaped shelf in the central section on the left, and two bow front sliding doors on the right.

The lower part presents two additional sliding doors with darker color and a single drawer with scalloped handle. The side panels and the back are plain. Its ingenious design typical of the Japanese cabinetry will make this Japanese Taisho period hinoki wood bookshelf from the early 20th century an excellent addition to any home, placed in a living room, bedroom or study!
