A Tribal Indian rustic Chakki grinder table from the early 20th century with hand-carved geometric motifs, carved feet and weathered patina. Created in India during the early years of the 20th century, this grinder table is called a Chakki. Traditionally used to grind grains to flour before collecting for cooking, these wheels are richly decorated on their outer edge. Our Chakki table is adorned with carved geometrical patterns made of stylized stars alternating with delicate rosettes.
The center is solid with two pierced sections. Raised on carved shaped legs, the table draws our attention with its great character, natural patina, and skilfully executed décor. This Indian tribal Chakki grinder table circa 1920 could be used as a pedestal on which a plant would be displayed, or a drinks table, placed in a living room or under a covered patio.
