A Greco-Roman inspired vintage bronze fountain from the mid 20th century, depicting a putto riding a dolphin. Created with the traditional technique of the lost-wax (à la cire perdue) that allows a great precision and finesse in the details, this sculpted group features a chubby putto riding a dolphin. This theme, drawn from the Greco-Roman mythology and favored during the Renaissance and 17th century, was often found adorning fountains.
Our busy putto has strapped to his back a large fish while he is opening the dolphin's mouth. Boasting a dark patina and made of intertwining curves, this Greco-Roman style bronze fountain, a part of the decorative objects & sculpture collection, will be an excellent addition to any garden!
