Description

This antique teak cabinet comes from Java, where it was made and painted during the early 20th century. The cabinet features a rectangular Silhouette surmounted by a cornice adorned with carved rosette motifs, accented with white paint. Two carved and painted doors open up to reveal three inner shelves. Their panels are adorned with diamond motifs, surrounded by delicate green sun rays. The centre of each diamond is decorated with a white and green wheel cross. The cabinet is raised on four varnished baluster legs.

With its distressed wood and great proportions, this uncommon early 20th century Javanese painted teak cabinet would be an excellent storage cabinet in any homes, especially in a living room where its light polychrome would add a touch of exoticism.
