A Chinese Qing Dynasty period painting from the 19th century of an ancestor group portrait in custom frame. Created in China during the Qing Dynasty, this vertical painting features a group portrait of ancestors including civil officials recognizable from their bird-adorned buzi. Painted on linen canvas, the piece showcases a traditional frontal arrangement of eight generations of ancestors wearing blue, red, green and gold and orange robes.
Meant to be read from top to bottom with the older generation at the top and the more recent one at the bottom, the painting (which measures 35.25"W x 61.25"H itself) showcases the men sitting on the right and the women on the left. Set inside a custom made frame, this 19th century Qing Dynasty Chinese painting will enliven any wall beautifully, perhaps hung above a credenza, console table or enfilade.
