Description

A Chinese Qing Dynasty period red lacquered cabinet from the 19th century with four doors, two drawers and hand-painted butterfly and foliage motifs. Created in China during the Qing Dynasty period in the 19th century, this tall cabinet features a linear silhouette perfectly complimented by a red lacquered ground. The façade showcases two pairs of double doors adorned with a hand-painted gilt décor with distressing made of butterflies of various shapes and forms, surrounded by scrolling foliage on the outer frame. These two sets of doors are each fitted with an ornate medallion made of a scrolling backplate and campanula style pulls. They open to reveal dark colored inner shelves offering convenient storage opportunities. They are separated from one another thanks to two drawers fitted with small ring pulls on floral backplates. The cabinet is sold as is, with some parts of the lacquer gone on the doors. The various photos document the condition.

It is raised on four short feet with carved apron in the front. The side showcase recessed panels and a reddish brown patina with weathered appearance. With its tall proportions and skillfully executed décor, this Chinese Qing Dynasty period red lacquered cabinet from the 19th century will bring a pop of color to any home, whether placed in a living room or bedroom.
