Vintage Chinese Black Lacquered Chest with Gold Geometric Decoration

This vintage Chinese storage chest is decorated with repeated gold-tone geometric motifs over a deep black lacquered ground. Scalloped corner ornaments, a shaped central lock plate and side carrying handles lend the compact rectangular form a strong graphic presence.
The hinged lid opens to a spacious black-finished interior suitable for blankets, linens or books. Offered as found, the chest shows substantial wear and losses that contribute to its timeworn character and should be reviewed in the condition details.
