A Chinese elmwood coffee table from the early 20th century, with rattan top inset, square legs, open apron and pillar strut motifs. Created in China, this coffee table was originally made from a cut down Lohan bed, also called an opium smokers' bed. The table showcases a square top with woven rattan inset and tapering edges, sitting above an open apron accented with a regular rhythm of pillar strut style motifs. It is raised on four sturdy square-shaped legs giving great stability to the ensemble. The design is the same on all sides, the table will be able to float in a room and be seen from all angles.
