A small vintage bronze cast sculpture from the mid 20th century depicting a praying Buddhist monk sitting on a base and holding an offering bowl. Created with the traditional technique of the lost-wax (à la cire perdue) which allows for great precision and finesse in the details, this vintage bronze statue depicts a praying Buddhist monk sitting on a base, preciously holding an offering bowl. Having placed the bowl on his left hand, the monk is protecting the content with his right one. He is peacefully looking upwards, in a prayerful attitude.
He is dressed with a thin robe uncovering his right shoulder, the fabric falling delicately on his left side. He is sitting on a base in a single lotus position. The bowl comes off as shown on image 9. The back is decorated as well, with less details than the front. With its nice depiction and dark patina, this vintage bronze praying Buddhist monk statue will bring a serene presence to any console table, credenza or commode.
