This tall blue and white Chinese altar vase features a boldly hand-painted double happiness motif, surrounded by floral scrolls and geometric patterning in traditional cobalt glaze. Likely dating to the early 20th century, the piece was designed for ceremonial or decorative use, its flared mouth - measuring 6.5" diameter and waisted neck offering a classic silhouette associated with Chinese porcelain altar vases. Distinctive applied elements flank the neck, providing subtle dimensionality and referencing archaic bronze forms.
The main body presents alternating stylized peony blossoms and geometric lattice borders, all rendered with fluid brushwork on a white ground.
