A vintage Chinese hand-crafted camphor wood root chair from the 20th century, with light varnished patina and unusual shape. Created in China during the second half of the 20th century, this unusual armchair is made of camphor wood which was then varnished with a natural lacquer. This wood was in fact carved to create a seat among the roots of an actual camphor tree. The knotted aspect of the chair is contrasted by the very polished finish whose natural aspect enhances the wood grain beautifully.
With its intricate shape, rustic appeal and great character, this vintage Chinese camphor wood root chair circa 1980 will make for an impressive and uncommon item in any home, perhaps placed a den, a living room placed next to a coffee table or under a covered patio. In addition to being a seating element, this chair could also be used as a decorative sculptural object, creating a focal point in your decor.
