A large Chinese Han dynasty period terracotta walking horse with mineral deposits, circa 202 BC-200 AD. Handcrafted in China during the prestigious Han dynasty, this large and unusual Chinese terracotta horse is depicted walking in a very animated manner. His expressive face and energetic gait convey a wonderful sense of liveliness.
It was molded adhering to traditional Chinese terracotta techniques. Such items were intended to reproduce the earthly environment of the deceased in the afterlife. With its great proportions and natural patina, this Chinese Han dynasty terracotta horse will make for an exquisite decorative addition to any home, where it will be a great conversation piece.
