Description

A Chinese Qing Dynasty period low kang coffee table from the 19th century, with painted décor and pierced apron. Created in China during the Qing Dynasty, this low kang coffee table features a square top adorned on its central board with a painted décor showcasing various objects and flowers, surrounding by a thin cartouche. The term kang comes from a platform destined to receive people atop, typically found in Northern China and made of hollow brick, allowing to burn fuel underneath to provide some heat.

Furniture around had therefore to be low. Raised on four legs connected to one another through stretchers, this Qing Dynasty 19th century Chinese low kang coffee table will make for a great addition to any living room or covered patio!
