A pair of Chinese sculpted and polychromed temple guardian lions architectural wood carvings. Born in China during the 18th or 19th century, each of this pair of temple carvings depicts a hand carved guardian lion, facing left and right.

 

Mesmerizing us with their expressive faces and scrolled details, they each showcase traces of a red, black and gold polychromy that accentuates their imposing presence. Carved to be seen flat against a wall, this pair of Chinese 18th or 19th century guardian lions will be an undeniable conversation piece in any home.
