Description

Set of four 19th-century Japanese hand-painted Imari porcelain bowls. Imari is a style of porcelain named after the Japanese port from which it was shipped from, beginning in the late 17th century.

The Imari palette revolved around three main colors--a blue underglaze, rusty reddish-orange, and a brilliant gold. Imari-ware took its design cues from colorful Japanese textiles of the day such as exotic landscapes and birds. For decorative use only. Stand not Included. Age wear.
