Description

A vintage Thai carved wooden monk statue with red, black and gilt finish, inlaid mica and Abhaya Mudra (fear dispelling) gesture. Crafted in Thailand during the mid-century period, this sculpture features a peacefully standing monk, adorned with black hair and red robe.

His two hands held upwards, palm facing outwards, fingers together and arms bent at the elbow, the monk is presenting the Abhaya Mudra, the fear dispelling gesture. His robe, showcasing nice folds and extending outwards in the lower section, is inlaid with mica arranged as petite rosettes in some places. Raised on a circular tapering base, this Thai Abhaya Mudra monk sculpture will make for an exquisite decorative addition to any home.
