Description

A Chinese early 20th century long elm altar console table from the Shandong province, with carved dragon motifs. Created in the Eastern province of Shandong during the early years of the 20th century, this long elm console table features a single planked top with everted flanges, sitting above a simple apron connected to the pierced legs supports thanks to beautifully carved spandrels: Discreet dragons surrounded by scrolling foliage create a perfect contrast with the grand simplicity of the lines.

 

Seen from the side, the table reveals a delicate design complimenting the ensemble beautifully. With its great dimensions and warm patina, this Shandong elm altar console table will be an excellent addition to any living room or hallway.
