An antique Thai hand carved driftwood sculptural architectural fragment, possibly from a Spirit House from the 19th century, mounted on a black stepped base. Born in Thailand during the 19th century, this spirit house sculpture features a rustic elongated silhouette, made of a hand carved driftwood structure. Spirit houses are shrines intended to provide shelter to the protective spirit of a place. In Thailand, it is traditional to leave offerings of food and drink at the spirit house to draw friendly spirits who will then gather and keep more malign spirits at bay.

With its rustic presence and nice proportions, this hand carved Thai spirit house sculpture mounted on base will be a great decorative accent in any home. Mounted on its base the piece is 67 inches high, the carving itself is 63 inches tall.
