A late Qing Dynasty low wooden table from the early 20th century with bamboo top and thick straight solid legs. Created in China in the early years of the 20th century, this low table features a rectangular top with bamboo inset sitting above a linear base. Coffee tables derive from the Kang tables that were developed in the Ming Dynasty. Those low tables were long and rectangular with short legs and placed on a kang - a raised three walled platform.
