A large Chinese antique low Kang coffee table from the early 20th century, with rattan top and horse hoof legs. Created in China during the early years of the 20th century, this low kang coffee table, features a rectangular woven rattan top sitting above a waisted apron.
The term kang comes from a platform destined to receive people atop, typically found in Northern China and made of hollow brick, allowing to burn fuel underneath to provide some heat. Furniture around had therefore to be low.
Raised on four legs with horse hoof extremities and boasting a brown patina, this early 20th century table will bring a touch of simple elegance to any living room or covered patio, used as a coffee table or bench.
