This 19th century chest was made in Japan with dark lacquered wood and brass hardware. This rectangular wooden chest is covered with an attractive dark and shiny lacquer. Carved brass hardware reinforces the corners and adorns the front center, which also displays two flowers in relief. The front features a brass handle and lock which exhibit a time earned patina. Inside, the chest displays a mauve fabric.
This Japanese 19th century dark lacquered wood chest with brass hardware would be an exotic and uncommon storage unit in most rooms, perhaps to store documents in a den where its austere aspect would perfectly match a working atmosphere.
